Lexi loves the park. She loves it most when other dogs are there, and one afternoon there was nobody. Not one dog. She stood at the gate, looked around, looked back at us, and the whole trip home felt like an apology.
That was the whole problem, really. Every dog owner in the area wanted the same thing at roughly the same time, and none of us had any way of knowing when the others were going. So we built an app to connect us all. You say when you are heading down, everyone at your park sees it, and Lexi gets her playmates.
Muttmates is free, it works on any phone straight from the browser, and it never asks for more than it needs. No feeds to doomscroll, no ads. Just one question, answered: who's at the park?
Open Muttmates or read the full guide first.
The mark you see everywhere in the app is a real ink drawing, not a stock icon. It comes from RDS, the studio of Australian artist Danielle Latta, whose Backyard Australia series captures dogs, kids and backyard wildlife in loose ink and watercolour. A patient dog with a wren on its nose felt exactly right for an app about waiting at the park for your mates.
A few favourites from the same series. Every one of them is a real piece you can buy as a print, and the selection below reshuffles each time you visit.
All artwork by Danielle Latta of RDS, shown here with permission. Browse the full series at rds.ink, or commission a piece of your own dog.
We also build Garden Buddy, a free Australian app for planning what to grow and when. If you garden as well as walk the dog, it is worth a look.
